Cheat Sheet with @Skinchemy: Guide to Glowing Skin

Glowing skin, the biggest skincare trend these days! We all want it, but how can we achieve it? Well, we break it down with a cheat sheet and explanation. So stay tuned and keep reading!

How Can I Get Glowing Skin?

Basically, glowing skin requires one to exfoliate the top layer of the skin to shed dead and dull skin cells. All skin types – oily, combination, dry, sensitive – benefit from regular exfoliation.

Every 28 days, our skin naturally sheds its outermost layer, creating room for a new and fresh layer underneath. When you’re younger, your dead skin cells shed away more quickly and easily. However, as you age, this natural skin shedding process slows down. When this process slows down, dead skin cells build up on your skin, giving you a dull or muddy look. In addition, these dead skin cells tend to clog your pores and interfere with your skin’s natural oil production. This can lead to enlarged pores, blemishes, acne, and even wrinkles!

Physical and Chemical Exfoliation

⁣⁣⁣So, physical and chemical exfoliation are both very important. Physical exfoliation might be easier to start with because you can adjust the amount of pressure you apply. Chemical exfoliants help to “unglue” the dead skin cells, and some acids are even able to promote collagen stimulation

Retinoids

Retinoids are also equally important! They’re incredibly helpful for stimulating collagen and for exfoliating skin cells. You might not notice your skin peeling with a naked eye, but you will definitely notice a difference after consistent use. Tretinoin is considered to be one of the best for anti-aging.

⁣⁣⁣Sunscreen

Lastly, but certainly not least, sunscreen is key! Sunscreen literally prevents everything bad from happening to your skin. Most importantly, it prevents premature aging. This is an important factor in keeping that youthful glow!⁣⁣⁣
