Meet Kristina, our creator communications specialist at Picky

Meet Kristina: Picky’s Creators Communication Specialist with a Flair for Connection

When you think of someone who embodies the spirit of creativity, connection, and a genuine love for the little things in life, Kristina comes to mind. She joined Picky in June 2024 as a Creator Engagement Intern and quickly found her groove. Now, she’s flourishing as a Creators Communication Specialist—a role that fits her like a glove.

Kristina’s Story: From Russia to Seoul

Kristina’s journey is anything but typical. An ethnic Korean who grew up in Russia, Kristina always felt the pull to connect with her roots. This desire brought her to Seoul nearly seven years ago, where she earned her degree from Yonsei University. Adjusting to life in Korea wasn’t always easy, but Kristina embraced the challenge and grew to love the culture and community. Now, she’s making waves at Picky and living her dream in the city she’s come to call home.

Life at Picky: From Intern to Specialist

Kristina joined Picky as an intern just this past summer, but she didn’t stay in that role for long. Her natural ability to deep dive into a variety of tasks and her dedication to Picky’s Picky Plus Campaigns quickly helped her adjust to Picky’s workplace culture. Today, she’s our Creators Communication Specialist, and her role is all about managing and supporting Picky’s growing creator community. From screening candidates to guiding influencers through campaigns, Kristina is the glue that holds everything together.

“In my role at Picky, I manage Picky Plus campaigns from start to finish,” Kristina explains. “I screen and select promising candidates, matching them to campaigns that align with their profiles. Throughout the campaign, I stay connected with our creators, offering support and guidance to ensure a seamless experience for them and great results for our campaigns.”

Lunchtime and Connection at Picky

One of Kristina’s favorite things about working at Picky is lunchtime—but not just for the food. Growing up in a big family in Russia, meals were always shared, and eating alone felt odd. She recalls her early days in Korea, having her first solo meal at Subway and feeling a bit teary-eyed seeing others eating together. Now, at Picky, lunchtime is a highlight. “Lunches here are a blast!” she laughs. “We talk about everything, from apartment hunting to love life updates. I love sitting down with my Picky family and spilling a little tea—it’s the highlight of my day!”

In Kristina’s day-to-day, a few small things bring her joy and comfort. She’s never without her phone and headphones, some mints, and a stash of sweets. And of course, there are her “babies”—her Sonny Angels figurines, which she admits are a bit of an obsession!

Outside of work, Kristina enjoys exploring new restaurants and cafes and traveling whenever she gets the chance. She’s also a fan of crochet and loves finding unique events around Seoul. For her, it’s all about finding new ways to express her creativity and soak up the city’s vibrant culture.

Why Picky?

Kristina says she always dreamed of working in a multicultural company, and Picky offered her exactly that. “I’ve always wanted to be in a place where diverse perspectives can thrive,” she explains. “That’s what Picky is. Everyone here brings something unique, and we’re all motivated to experiment and try new things.”

In just a few months, she’s seen so much growth in herself. What started as helping out with social media and small projects has evolved into launching campaigns on her own. “Even when something feels intimidating, I know my team has my back,” she says. “I can see the immediate impact of my contributions, which is incredibly motivating.”

Advice for New Immigrants in Korea

As someone who’s been through the transition herself, Kristina’s advice for new immigrants is simple: be prepared and stay open. “The first few months can feel amazing, but homesickness can eventually hit hard,” she warns. “Stay open to new experiences, embrace the culture, and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.”

Kristina also stresses the importance of learning the language. Even though more Koreans are speaking English these days, knowing Korean helps immensely in navigating daily life and connecting with locals. And finally, she encourages newcomers to find a community. “Once you find your place and your people, you’ll fall in love with the city all over again,” she says.

From Russia to Seoul and from intern to specialist, Kristina’s journey is one of growth, connection, and a love for embracing new experiences. At Picky, she’s found a place to shine, and she’s helping our creators do the same.
